Mad Pride Toronto is a group of volunteers who identify as Mad, Consumer Survivors, Psychiatric Survivors, people living with Mental Illness or Mental Health issues and more.
We are looking for new community partners and organizers to join our planning team and help us dream, create, and plan events like Mad Pride Week (the Bed-Push Parade, the Mad-Hatter Tea party, Public Forums), and outreach concerts, workshops and more.
As a group, we do not identify as anti-psychiatry or anti-medication. We emphasize our strength, dignity and choices. Mad Pride Toronto is committed to raising awareness and creating events and communities to challenging stigma and oppression.
Mad Pride Toronto recognizes that in addition to the stigma and oppression experienced by folks who identify as Mad, there is systemic oppression and marginalization that intersects and creates multiple barriers. Mad Pride Toronto is committed to working from an anti-oppression framework, and would therefore like to invite Black, Indigenous and People of Colour and members of the LGBTQIA community to join as community partners and organizers.
If you are interested in joining Mad Pride Toronto, our next meeting is Tuesday, October 11th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Progress Place (576 Church St).
Our email is torontomadpride@gmail.com for more information.
